The Lakeside Crescent Quarter
Over 1,200 apartments and an innovative business hub on 7,500 m² create a vibrant mix of living and working in the "IBA Quarter" of Seestadt. The Liselotte Hansen-Schmidt Education Campus including a youth center and the VHS Kulturgarage bring education and culture to the quarter.
A vibrant neighborhood with character
In the Lakeside Crescent Quarter, around 2,500 apartments for Seestadt residents were built north of the lake. Around the central "Elinor-Ostrom-Park", mainly subsidized rental and owner-occupied properties as well as privately financed condominiums were realized. On one building site, 90 residential units for community housing initiatives were created, focusing on high individual living quality and community living and working.
The diverse quarter was part of the International Building Exhibition IBA_Wien 2022.

Exceptional diversity of uses
The Lakeside Crescent Quarter offers an exceptional diversity of uses in addition to housing:
- The business location Gewerbehof of the Vienna Business Agency with 7,500 m², a supermarket, and over ten retail units strengthen the local economy.
- The second education campus with youth center, library, four kindergartens, as well as numerous club and multifunctional rooms, creates a strong social infrastructure.
- The top cultural venue VHS Kulturgarage brings high-quality events to the neighborhood – from theater to concerts.
- Over 5,000 m² of office space offers micro-offices, studios, co-working spaces, and flexible workspaces
Elinor-Ostrom-Park: The 30,000 m2 park is the centerpiece of the Lakeside Crescent Quarter and impresses with its innovative overall concept: It is not only an ecological flagship park with sustainable rainwater management and a focus on biodiversity, but also offers a wide range of weather-protected play, sports, and leisure activities along the subway line.
The development of the Lakeside Crescent Quarter was shaped by IBA_Wien 2022 and the search for answers to current social questions: What will buildings look like that can adapt to future working and living conditions? What role does public space play?
