ARIANA Event Hall wins international “BIG SEE Architecture Award”

The event venue in aspern Seestadt in Vienna’s 22nd district presents itself as the city’s most modern. Its unique architecture combined with innovative technology has now been recognized at the “Big See Architecture Award 2023” in the “Recreation & Sports Building” category.
Since March 2022, Donaustadt has gained a multifunctional and outstanding event location with ARIANA. Located directly at the U2 Seestadt station and excellently connected to several bus lines and suburban trains, it offers the ideal setting for a wide range of event formats and sizes. Its five event spaces, with 1,300 m2 indoors and 2,000 m2 outdoors, allow for flexible staging and productions.
Unique architecture in a prime location
The goal of the owners Andrea Czernin and Zaki Ander was to create a place that meets the diverse needs of customers, suppliers, and guests. The realization in the heart of aspern Seestadt, with excellent infrastructure, public transport in the immediate vicinity, parking spaces in the surrounding multi-storey car parks, and hotels, reflects this idea.
Together with the architecture firm Daneshgar Architects, ARIANA was brought to life by combining bold, innovative design and state-of-the-art technology into a unique venue that offers both wow effects and a feel-good atmosphere.
“One and a half years of planning with the best in their respective fields went into this space project. With this combination of many areas of expertise and a great deal of courage, we have succeeded in making our vision a reality,” the ARIANA managers confirm.

ARIANA has become a central element and attraction of Seestadt, with an impact far beyond Vienna’s borders. Its architecture, now also recognized by experts, enriches our district and the destination Vienna,” says Wien 3420 board member Gerhard Schuster enthusiastically.
International recognition through the BIG SEE Award
Since 2018, the “BIG SEE Architecture Awards” have recognized outstanding design solutions in the fields of architecture, interior design, product design, wood, tourism, and fashion across six categories and 21 countries. Projects are evaluated according to strict criteria, including innovation, smart design and originality, sustainability and environmental compatibility, cultural and social awareness, as well as functionality and achievement of set goals.
Armin Daneshgar, founder of Daneshgar Architects, accepted the award for ARIANA at the official ceremony during the BIG Architecture Festival in Ljubljana.
Regarding the aspects that convinced the jury of the “BIG SEE Architecture Awards,” it was stated: “The project impressed with ‘simple cubatures but a spectacular façade’ that ‘envelops the building structure like a ‘leaf of life’ and, with its angled supporting structures, is reminiscent of the veins of a leaf.’ For the full winner’s description on the BIG SEE website: https://bigsee.eu/ariana-event-hall/
