Groundbreaking for central vocational school building in the Seestadt
The new building on Edith-Piaf-Straße will provide space for around 7,500 vocational students and 350 staff members, uniting seven vocational schools under one roof across 29,000 m². School operations are set to begin in September 2028.
Mayor Michael Ludwig emphasizes the significance of this project for Vienna’s educational landscape: “In the Seestadt, we are not only creating state-of-the-art learning environments [...]. This new vocational school stands for real equal opportunities and foresight – it stands for a Vienna that empowers young people.”
Deputy Mayor Bettina Emmerling also highlights the innovative strength of the project: “A future-proof educational infrastructure is being created here – with green spaces, rooftop gardens, and rooms flooded with daylight.”
The concept by Kronaus Mitterer Architekten includes not only versatile open space design but also sustainable energy supply through geothermal energy and PV systems.

New AHS location for the Seestadt
The range of educational opportunities in the Seestadt continues to grow: A new AHS location is being built at the intersection of Sonnenallee and Seestadtstraße. The winning project by the Franz&Sue architectural office combines modern learning spaces, generous open areas, and high sustainability standards.
