She explains why she consciously chose not to own a car and how Seestadt’s innovative transport planning enables this lifestyle. Whether it’s the subway, bus, or bicycle – Seestadt offers a wide range of mobility options, making it easy to get to work, school, and leisure activities without a car. This is also reflected in the modal split of Seestadt residents: More than 40 percent of journeys are made on foot, and nearly 40 percent by public transport or bicycle. Rain gardens in the parks also ensure that valuable rainwater seeps into the ground instead of disappearing into the sewer system.
