She explains why she consciously chose not to own a car and how Seestadt’s innovative transport planning enables this lifestyle. Whether it’s the subway, bus, or bicycle – Seestadt offers a wide range of mobility options, making it easy to get to work, school, and leisure activities without a car. This is also reflected in the modal split of Seestadt residents: More than 40 percent of journeys are made on foot, and nearly 40 percent by public transport or bicycle. Another key aspect of the mobility concept is the early construction of the subway station, which was operational in Seestadt before the first residents moved in. This proactive planning ensured that Seestadt residents relied on alternative modes of transport from the very beginning, rather than depending on cars. Read the full article
