“Flux” – Mural on the Promenade
The latest Seestadt mural “Flux” makes community and diversity visible. Flowing shapes, overlapping layers, and bold colors evoke the element of water – a symbol of movement, change, and cohesion. The work was realized by the Vienna-based agency muralia.
Seestadt is a place where people from diverse backgrounds meet, exchange ideas, and create together. This cooperative spirit is reflected in the new mural on the promenade: it is not a solo work, but a collaborative process in which the artists Linda Steiner, Käthe Löffelmann, and Axel Schindler unite their different styles, approaches, and visions.
The promenade on the north side of the asperner lake thus becomes a vibrant space that makes community, creativity, and diversity visible – a place where art redefines public space.
The focus is on the element of water – sometimes calm, sometimes full of energy. Artistically, water takes center stage: waves, currents, reflections, and aquatic plants appear in abstract form in the background. Each color field represents a manifestation of water. Overlaps, fluid transitions, and abrupt breaks symbolize dynamism and change. Water is not merely depicted, but made atmospherically tangible: as a symbol of movement, depth, and transformation.
The mural serves not only decorative purposes. It tells stories, becomes the starting point for new narratives, and invites active participation.
Residents of Seestadt meet at this place, share experiences, and create shared memories.
About the Artists
Käthe Löffelmann is a multidisciplinary artist from Vienna, focusing on murals, photography, and installations. Käthe’s wall works are characterized by clean lines, reduced color palettes, and typographic elements. Texts, conceptual approaches, and occasionally a playful animal motif often flow into the works. In her artistic practice, Käthe addresses social challenges – always with a subtle, activist touch and a special fondness for typography.
Axel Schindler studied graphic design and visual media at the Graphische in Vienna, graduating in 2013. His artistic repertoire includes painting, illustration, and street art. In his works, he combines figurative elements with abstract forms, relying on a high-contrast, vibrant visual language that creates a dynamic relationship between figures and their surroundings.
Linda Steiner was born in East Tyrol and has lived and worked in Vienna since 2012. After graduating from the Graphische, the young artist decided to pursue her own path independently of institutions. In addition to her main focus on introspection, her work also addresses socio-political topics such as feminism, classism, and racism.
muralia – street art agency
The Vienna-based agency muralia was commissioned for the new mural on the Seestadt promenade. The team is dedicated to the artistic design of wall surfaces and emerged from the street art festival Calle Libre. Today, muralia realizes commissioned works ranging from office facades to large-scale projects in public spaces.
The focus is on more than just the visual result: art should be accessible, connect people, and actively help shape urban spaces. With an international network of artists, muralia finds the right style for every project and develops individual visual concepts. The founders Ricarda and Nicolas bring many years of experience and a strong partner network – from paints to scaffolding and lift technology to material experts.
