HOW TO GET THERE
Planning a day out in Vienna? Come and take a look at aspern Seestadt, Austria's largest construction site and future living space for 20,000 people.
A walk is well worth it: the Seestadt PIER offers wonderful views over the lake, while Lakeside Park is a great spot to chill out and daydream.
- Please remember that aspern Seestadt is a working construction site. Exercise extreme caution at all times!
- Obey signage and traffic signs.
- Look out for traffic at all times!
- Take special care on uneven ground and near building materials and equipment.
PUBLIK – Culture on the building site
aspern Seestadt sees itself as an urban space of infinite possibilities. With PUBLIK, its experimental arts, culture and communication programme, Urban Lakeside looks ahead to its own future and opens it up for discussion. Since its inception in 2011, the programme has been creating islands of culture, communication and artistic experiment amidst the building activities on the construction site.
The multifaceted programme invites the city's various creative scenes as well as current and future residents to use the Seestadt site as a playground for creative experimentation and enjoy cultural events with a touch of "building site chic".
The integrated development of aspern Seestadt is a further key aim of the Neighbourhood Management Office, which has been going about its work on the site since 2014 to give Seestadt residents and people from the neighbouring communities the chance to get involved and actively co-shape their environment. The members of the Neighbourhood Management team act as bridge-builders and facilitators between local citizens, stakeholders and institutions active at Seestadt. Alongside the established PUBLIK culture and communication programme, new activities and opportunities for citizen participation are being launched to fashion an attractive, vibrant city-within-a-city in partnership with the new residents and users.
The Neighbourhood Management Office opened its doors at aspern IQ, Vienna Business Agency's innovative office building, in January 2014. Team members are available to deal with questions and concerns at the Info Point on the Seestadt construction site.
